That might explain the more pickup, ehh, 4EATs are more complicated than Calc and girls combined. I dont' think the fuse exsists for the 5MT cars. As for screwing the transmissions up by operating in FWD, I've heard of an SVX or two being messed up that way, but it was in conjunction with the E-brake so maybe that's why.

LOl, Hell no. My wagon corners way better than most sport sedans with the awd. I love pushing it through the corners when im getting on the freeway, its awesome.legacycontinues wrote:Make sure you dissable the AWD feature of your car. I think it has something to do with duty solenoid C. I don't know exactly what it is, or what it does, but whenever this comes up, that's what I hear.corsair wrote:As for screwing the transmissions up by operating in FWD, I've heard of an SVX or two being messed up that way, but it was in conjunction with the E-brake so maybe that's why.
And, really, an AWD car will understeer under power like any other car, but not quite as much as a FWD car. The nice thing is when you brake hard and late into a corner on purpose, the back comes out, and you can get right on the gas and countersteer. I swear I got all four tires to spin, just for a second, in a road rally a month or so ago. It was awesome.

Just do't call me when you get high centered on a rock. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for lowereing certain vehicles..Like Josh's 2WD nissan hardbody...
Most of us on here would rather lift our cars to increase their capabilities. I imagine I would lift mine given the chance and it was within budget. But then again I enjoy taking my car off-road. I like going through some sick sugar sand, or maybe climbing up the side of a mountain, throw in a little mud here and there...and then there is always snow. I don't get to drive in the snow like I used to seeing as to how I live in the sunshine state but I imagine there will be more times in the future,
I drive my car like the Outback in the Subaru commercial where they are going through the mud and the back roads..
I have had my wagon sideways on more than one occasion and it handled just fine. I don't think any of us here have dreams to become professional drifters, or have metioned anything of the sort to my knowledge but I am going to go on a limb here and say that our cars handle quite well at stock height.
These is that fellow from USMB that has the lowered wagon that has won him many awards and he seems to like it alot. What ever makes you happy is what you must do. Just remember the slogan..
Drive it like you stole it.

If I wanted a lifted subaru(which I dont) it would probably be a ea81 hatch or brat. the only benefit of subarus for off roading is their really light weight. flex? nonexistant. strong drivetrain? no. fit big tires?yeah, with like 15" of lift. Subarus are fun lifted, but so is pretty much every 4x4. you want a lifted station wagon? get a 4door cherokee, 4runner or something.

You're right, we don't want to lift our legs. That's what dogs do. Is that you?legacycontinues wrote:OK...let me rephrase that....most people I conversed with on USMB.
MY bad.
This is the lowered central board. Come to think of it I haven't seen too many people on this board asking about liftnig their legs...hmmm
Lowering = teh w1n, period. Will your car handle as well if it were lifted? I think not. Stock ...maybe, but you can't compete vs. comparably lowered.
..and I believe rallitektech is the one who's got a red 91SS that is *gasp* lifted! Check out the rake, it's mean.

Oh, here, I searched FOR YOU, since you're not yet in the habit of doing so:

There are a few of us that would enjoy having the legacy lifted a tad. There have been a few threads on this. I personally wouldn't mind an additional .5 - .75 inch. I run my car hard on the roads but I also take it into the mts a lot where I need that ground clearance. With a stiff suspension I could definately handle the slight reduction in performance due to a slightly higher CG. Corsair has it right though I think, most of us here are more oriented to street performance.

This entire thread is ridiculous. It needs to stop. This is like Ciper all over again.
Can we get this thread locked? Or have every post after the inital one deleted so the board can start over again playing nice?

See crap like this abounds. Why do people talk out of their necks so much?91legacy_sleeper wrote:Lowering = teh w1n, period. Will your car handle as well if it were lifted? I think not. Stock ...maybe, but you can't compete vs. comparably lowered.

Sure thing, pops!
Look dude, if you step to the line of fire, don't get perpendicular. Is there a particular naughty-badness for countering rhetoric with more rhetoric?
Is vehicle stance a personal taste, proportional to driving style? (and/or location?) Sure.
We're all asshats for arguing with each other, okay? Should anyone here take it personal? Nah, I don't think so.. It'd be hard to get me to stay away cause someone disagreed with my posts/threads/statements. There's always apologies, too...

Would you like to come watch a Disney movie with me too? Look, I don't know about anyone else, but my mood shifts with the threads, so we keep the tone. In one, legacycontinues and I talk it up about Sublime, illicit drugs, and children's toys. In others, I'll take his ideas/thoughts/whathave you and piss on them and/or call him out. I have enough respect for him to have a text-based pissing contest, straight like that, Will.

Fine, fine.. +2 e-penis points.Brat4by4 wrote: I will come to any track, any corner, any residential neighborhood you name with my car which is technically lifted. My friend had a 92 SVX. Her ex who bought it for her basically beat the piss out of it and he used it to commute to work and back, 35 miles one way. The mechanic that he took all his cars to told him to put the FWD fuse in (because of supposed AWD problems), and to drive it nice and easy. Well, the fuse did get put in, but as for the nice and easy driving, HELL NO.
Basically, the front differential ate itself, while I was driving it. I took it to do a tune up on it, to try and help her, and never made it back. I felt like shit cause I said nothing would happen.
I know the SVX has alot more power than the Legacys, but I'd venture to guess that it would be possible for the same thing to happen with time.

Ouch, man.. That's why I despise driving anyone's car but my own.. Something goes wrong, I know about it. If I'm not in the driver's seat.. I won't know as soon, or as surely.
Too bad the SVXs had so many problems.. I've always had eyes for 'em, and I had to defend one the other day when my cousin called it ugly. They're great cars, but.. the trannys just don't seem to be up to the challenge.
