Holy SHIT! you guys are awesome. Lot's of help here and 70 some odd replies?? Damn this site stays busy. Well anyways I think my BC will be ready either tomarrow or friday. Pics will DEFFINETLY be up then because photography is my other passion :D. Back to thing about me modding it. Now that I think about it, all I really want is some bronze rims. For years i've wanted a subaru with bronze rims, it looks so nice but I wanna get something that isn't too heavy at the same time. Maybe later down the road I'll get it lowered a tad bit. Something that worries me is this cars mileage, it has 160,000 miles. I know, I know, the engines are great..but..160k is a lot of miles..

I don't know if you guys are into stuff like this (or support it) but I think I may wanna reupholster the interior too. I just want it to feel nice.

if it's a sedan you can put in the seats from imprezas, i.e WRX, you can probably do the door panels with some matching cloth... I've thought about it but I have a wagon and it wouldn't be that easy for the back seat.

good to see we didn't scare you off, welcome to the crazed hell that is legacy central

160 is when accessories may start to give you trouble, but the engine should be fine. I beat mine until it burnt an exhaust valve at 246k and other than the valve, the inside of the engine looked almost new. When I say accesories MAY give you trouble it's because of others' experience and my brother-in-law's OBS. I didn't have anything start to go until well over 200k and I still have a lot of original stuff.

I'm happy to see that Amit didn't get scared off guys, it would have been a shame. We're not NASIOC here and I take pride in our friendly atmosphere, lets keep it that way.

Yeah, guys, I'm doing fake-suede headliner at some point - anyone want to flame? I'm sure if he reads around here and drives a little he'll probably realize what a waste things like neons are anyway. If not, it's still his call.

Getting original Subaru wheels will be without a doubt WAY too expensive for me. Wheelmax has new deals every week, tire and rim package for around $500. So I'm thinking when my tires go really bad, and if I have money (like next year..) i'll buy some wheels. By the way, my dad got a call from the guy sellin the Subaru, he inspected it and found out it needed a new head so hes chargeing $500 more...I'm not sure if my dad will still buy this car for me but I have a feeling he just may.

I suggest tell him you'll help him change it out. New heads from a JY are cheap or a board member probably has one laying around. You can do the head gaskets, water pump, timing belt, and seals at the same time and have a practically new engine along with learning a hell of a lot. SInce you're only 15, you don't need to have the car on the road tomorrow.

Which model is the JY and how much would those heads go for? The real problem here is the fact that the dealership I'm buyin the BC from is about an hour and a half away.

We buy rims from wrx owners who want something bigger. I'm on my second set, about 200 bucks a pop with free tires :). The head replacement does not increase the value of the car; as such, it does not increase the price. Don't pay any more. Replacing a head is rather easy, but i would expect a significant discount on the car as most people don't know how to do it.

A JY is a junk yard.

i decided to try it out for fuel effecency. i had it on for a few weeks. did only 1 smokey burnout. then one day i was at a stoplight and hit the gas and the car went backward. i was able to limp it home and to a tranny shop. the gears were already slipping so it was about time but i think it just made the time come fastar

I saw a set of STi wheels on nasioc for $500. Yeah, the 17" Subaru wheels might be a little more expensive, but I promise they're better than any $500 package from wheelmax. Not only that, there are very few aftermarket wheels that have to correct offset for our cars. If you can't spend that much on them, get a set of 16" WRX wheels. You'll be be able to find some locally, I'm sure.

Here's a recent glamour shot I took of my car. Wheels and tires were $200.

I need your guys' luck in finding $200 WRX rims.. I always get the pricks who think they'll go for ~$500 with the RE92s..

Little update: I may still buy the BC but my dads interested in this nice 96 V6 camry, 80k miles and only 6700$. I really don't know what I want anymore. I like both of them but to be honest I think it'd be easier for my dad to give me the Subaru because it's cheaper and the Camry really seems a little too beefy for me right now.

Amit man, maybe the camery will prevent you from doing the stupid things I did when I first got my car, but hey they're both nice cars and you probably should at least ride in them unless you have your permit then you should drive them and get a feel for yourself.

Camry may be cheaper in the long run as there's not much to do with it and the handling will leave you uninspired. I think the boring traits discouraging hard driving and those types from ownership are one of the big reasons for Toyota's longevity.

Well...yesteday my dad decided to buy the Camry..love this car. Today he got a call from the place with the BC, they said the car was ready and could be sold for $2500 but my dad didn't tell him he bought the Camry. My dad is thinking about buying the BC still.
