I looked at the WRX oil cooler today, and it is different then forester one I have. The outlet pipe on the wrx oil cooler is angled upwards while the forester one is horizontal. There's a possibility I can make it work, I'm just not sure if it will interfere with the header. I'll have to check it out as I dissamble things.

If not, I'll just have to sell the setup I have to one of you n/a guys.

here's pics of the forester setup

The forester hard line wont work. I've tried, it runs into the exhaust.

I know the hard line won't work, I'm talking about the oil cooler itself.

Did you use the forester oil cooler, or one other one? Was it from an n/a motor or turbo motor.

I used a WRX oil cooler because it looks like it flows oil better.

How does it look like it flows oil better? It's the same exchanger with the pipe bent slightly upward.

This is where my lazy self needs to go take pictures ;)

The design of the oil flow on the inside looks less restrictive on the wrx cooler. It could not make any difference or the turbo legacy one could flow more, the wrx one just doesn't look as restrictive. It's a different design than the turbo legacy. As far as coolant flow goes, I couldn't tell ya. But it just looks like a better unit than the old one.

Ok....I thought you were comparing the wrx one to the forester one.

Fitted the forester oil cooler on the ej22t motor. The one line is too close to the header pipe. I'm going to have to try and get a hold of a WRX one.

It was either 25 or 50 on ebay

Yes, infact I believe all new gen turbos except the 92-94 legacys have oil coolers. Don't quote me on that though.

Pretty sure your correct on that. Turbo foresters have them as well....and I'm assuming the LGT has one too.

I recently put a wrx waterpump onto my 93 without factory oil cooler. I went to the store and got a little cap(get a hoseclamp too so it wont shoot off.) and capped off the extra nipple. It was very simple:

lol all that talk, and there's the answer. I appreciate this though, because I'm going to put this waterpump on my 91, because it's newer! peace

update: that little cap sucks, I remember it broke within a month. It's the kind that Schucks, Autozone, Napa etc sells. Avoid it. I used a smaller coolant hose with a bolt jammed and clamped into the end as a heavy duty cap.

Remember if you get a "Turbo" pump you also need the "Turbo" thermostat housing.
