Heres my Saab IC setup and my new custom IC tube

Post by kidwired »

I got my saab 900 IC at pick n pull, guy thought it was a heater core $15, while there I grabbed a bunch of IC hoses ans tubes from Saab, BMW and volvos, an armload of tubes and connectors $30.

I fitted everything up... then took one of my (alum) tubes to a shop, had it cut, flared and a bov tube welded on. $35

So I've got $80 in my IC.
Gotta run and pick up a silicone 90 and some 3/4 for bov this afternoon.

its in, it works but I"m not entirely happy w/ the bov setup. it's got a loop deloo. Ashorter adapter at the ic inlet would solve the problem.

Anyone know the saab ic dia?
the turbo outlet is 1.75 I guess.

I searched but really didnt find anything and I need to get started on the "honey do" list so cant keep data mining.

The turbo's compressor outlet outer diameter is about 1.75", yes. The intercooler's fittings have an outer diameter of about 2.25".

It's not. Not by much, anyway... I'm using 2.25" couplers with mine.

it's more 2.25" than 2.5" -- you can fit 2.25" couplers over those pipes snugly. 2.5" is way too loose for the Saab 900 IC.

Stock turbo compressor outlet is 1.75", yes.

T-bird turbo compressor outlet is about 2"

TB is 2.75"

As always, I recommend stopping by a Central or Napa auto parts and asking to look through their formed radiator hoses - easy to cannibalize for specific bends and turns and such. Then again, I needed a bit more piping...

Good pic, I've been wondering about this pipe and the picture says is all.

Ideally the tube adapter to IC inlet should be shorter, alloing you to move the 3/4 stub farther up. Giving you more room for the BOV. and it should be a 90 pointing towards the bov connector on the intake tube. I think anyway.
