Finally had a bonafide valve cover gasket failure

Post by douglas vincent »

Was getting worried the last few days. I was starting to get HUGE clouds of smoke following me. The last time this happened, I of course had destroyed pistons. And this time I havent even hit 400 miles, and only 100 on 2 psi of boost.

So I jacked it up and checked it out.

Oil is visibly pooling on the bottom of the driver side valve cover after cleaning it with a paper towel. Ah, easy fix.

better valve cover gaskets than a front crankshaft seal.

my front crank seal is going out, a rev to 3000 rpms and the timing belt get soaked in oil. it's visiblly wet.

Its a pain changing those with the engine out, much less with the engine in!
