WRX intercooler hp gains?

Post by livestrong14 »

Hey, I was wondering what I can expect in hp gains from a wrx intercooler on my 91' legacy turbo? I was told I could expect 20-30. All input is really appreciated!

Eh... not a lot. I wouldn't look at it as a hp adder. Think of it as something that allows you to do the mods that really add power such as turning up the boost.

Yeah, the intercooler alone doesn't really add much.

I did the calculations years ago, but if memory serves-- at
around 90F ambient a good I/C will increase torque by about
15 %. :)

well when i added my ic i defintily felt slower cause it dropped my manifold pressure to 6psi but with my mbc set at 11psi give or take .5psi i definitily notice a difference. and hopefully once the fcd is in 13-14 psi will be a good time :)

it depends on the turbo that you're running. You can get a good cheap mbc on ebay for next to nothing, but it all comes down to the features that you want(if you want any)

I think I am sticking with the stock turbo for now... Id love to get a dual stage MBC, but I'm pretty sure those are alot more expensive :\

No clue on the stock turbo. The dual stage is DEFINITELY more expensive. If you don't really see a use for a high and low boost setting, then just get a regular mbc, you can get them for like $15 on ebay
