dumb question about air filters

Post by mark-b »

I looked around my air filter housing (rectangle in shape) and a bit unsure how you open it up to throw in a new filter. As you can tell I'm only onto my first legacy. Mark

there is four clips that you have to flip open, then it should open up with no ease..just take another good look...if its not 4 clips, its 4 i believe 10mm bolts...just as easy as the clips but take a few seconds longer to undo...but beware, after unscrewing them, sometimes the nut on the under side will fall off never to be seen again, its a good practice to place a finger under the bolt when taking them out...

Hi Stant093,
Thanks for the tip. I dont have clips so I will have another close look for the bolts. On the 4 corners on top there are round bolt heads that almost look like alan-key holes in the center. I dont know if these are the ones you are talking about but I will go exploring. Thank you.

Yeah, we don't have clips :D . I hate clips...

They are screw-bolts (whatever you call em) that are 10mm or Philips screwdriver...

And I personally have never had a bolt fall out, I think they're held in place...

Yeah, the screws wont fall out. I needed a couple from the junk yard (someone stripped the phillips head out of mine) and it was easier just to replace the air box top then to remove the screws.
