Straight Turbo Intake under the manifold?

That spinning thing that makes all of the cool noises. OE and Aftermarket.

Straight Turbo Intake under the manifold?

Post by All_talk »

Has anybody done this with the stock EJ22T intake? Impossible? Or just impractical?

I’m hoping to do the twincam head swap soon and I’m sure the accompanying manifold will allow this but in the meantime I hate to go through the trouble of fabbing a 90deg set up just to ditch it later.

Any wisdom here?

OK i went out and poked around under the hood...

Biggest thing is you have to relocate the power steering reservoir, I’ve seen this done and its not that tough, after all the factory did it on the WRX, I think you can even use those parts.

You’d have to reroute a couple of lines and relocate/remove the purge solenoid (I’m pretty sure that’s what it is) and cut a couple of mount lugs off the manifold.

Looks doable, any thoughts?

You wouldn't be able to run a 3" intake pipe. The wrx manifold is a good bit taller than the ej22t manifold and allows it to be run under the intake. I have both manifolds, and the wrx one is somewhere between 1.5-2inches taller at least.

if you get a set of heads that will run a k manifold you would be able to do it

talk to the keith(?) at frantic4, he has this exact thing done on his SS with ej20g heads and mani. his car is fast as shit. If it were me I would just leave it until you do the heads and manifold.

Well I guess I'll have to figure something out... just scored a VF24, should nmake a great no lag street setup. Should sit nicely a top the 3" Helix Turbo back I just installed. :P

I'm still looking for a deal on a set of twincam heads, if i find some soon I'll just go under the manifold, but if not I guess I'll live with a 90deg lash up for now.

i will let you now if you got to change the power sterring pump to do it, i got extra ej22t motors in my shop that im going to swap everything over on to make sure it all works out, then im going to swap all that on to my other daily drive ej22t motor block.
