Have the opportunity to pick these up for cheap. I've read the compendium, I know they'll bolt right in, but are they stiffer than my stock turbo shocks? My shocks feel shot so I have to replace them anyway, I'm just wondering if, new for new, these would reap any sort of performance benefit.
I don't think it would be worth it. They might be a little stiffer, if only because they're newer, but I'm just saying it's a lot of work for not a huge gain. If you have the money, then pick up some KYB GR2's or KYB AGX. They're not terribly expensive either - probably no more expensive than stock parts if you compare new-vs-new OR used-vs-used.

Someone locally was going to sell me a set for $20 picked up. I figure I can change out the struts in 5-6hours, so $20 + a days worth of work for shocks half as old with half the mileage on them seemed worth it.
I was going to pick them up today, but I haven't heard from the guy...I'm thinking it may have fallen thorugh. Oh well, maybe it's for the better anyway.
Well, I guess if you don't mind spending the 5-6 hours, then I'm sure they'd be better than blown shocks. I mean, any original BCBF shocks are so old now that they are terrible. I just say it's not worth it because I've changed shocks so many times... I don't like how much time it takes and the cursing at rusted bolts and brake fluid spills and dealing with the friggin' spring compressors and then the 4 wheel aligment. So personally, I wouldn't want to do it again unless I was getting a really nice setup from it. But, if that guy does respond and you don't mind it as much, then go for it.
