Finally hooked up the launch control on the MSD DIS-2

oh my sweet baby allah!

I have it set for 3500 and it makes ~2 lbs of boost when i floor it

I mounted a little unassuming button in that panel next to the ebrake to enable the lower rev limiter.

hehe i never knew a little button could bring so much joy!

I hooked mine up to a second stock cruise control button.

I rally really wanted to hook mine up to the "cancel" of the cruize control so i could have both hands on the wheel but it looked a bit more difficult than placing a new button. what are your thoughts? Im unsure of how that circuit works.

Have you removed your car's cruise control?

You should be able to use the "cancel" switch with some work. What year and model do you have exactly?

That's my old car vikash, and I never hooked the CC up after the trans swap (among other things

). That's cool that you got the launch control hooked up, I'm sure it's fun.

Do you have a DIS-2 Plus (the new one with dials not switches) if so, are you retarding the timing too?

It seems like my DIS-2 just died... I gotta check the wiring, but seems like it might have crapped out.... kinda dissapointed about that.

Okay, look under the dash for a 5-pin connector shaped like this:

I think it's with the other connectors coming from the steering column. The car side of the harness connector is black plastic; I don't know what color the other side is.

Pin 1 should have a red-with-green-stripe wire on it.
Pin 2 should have a light-green-with-black-stripe wire on it.
Pin 3 should have a green-with-red-stripe wire.

Cut the red-with-green-stripe wire and make sure that the side going into the steering column does not have +12v on it when the ignition is on. Connect this wire to ground.

Then splice into either of the other two wires and connect it to the DIS-2's blue wire.

Mike - The DIS-2's launch control feature is basically a low soft rev limiter. So you put a push-button switch between that wire and ground, and when you hold that button down you can floor the pedal and the engine will rocket up to whatever rev limit you've chosen. Once it reaches that speed, the DIS-2 starts randomly cutting spark one cylinder at a time to prevent engine speed from increasing.

Ok I am on this "do it with factory subaru stuff" thing right now...

I wonder if you could get the same "boost without moving" effect that the auto has on a 5 speed if you mod a hill holder valve from a loyale/imp?

It's not that simple. The reason you can do it on an automatic is that the engine and transmission are only loosely coupled through the torque converter. Unless you slip the poop out of your clutch, you can't load the engine with the weight of the vehicle without actually moving the vehicle.

On mine the car side plug is white, the column side plug is black.

this is where a problem is, the red-with-green stripe coming from the car side is hot, and activates the horn when I ground it. Scared to bejeezus out of me haha!

I tested it with the plugs disconnected.
