Installed a dual stage Nitrous setup....

Post by douglas vincent »

Well, I just like to go faster in a straight line, so sue me!

I have had a single nitrous setup for a long time, but have purchased over the years ALOT of nitrous parts. Enough to nicely put together a second nozzle into the intake.

I set it up so that I have the first nozzle spray at WOT (via a switch activated by the actual throttle). This first spray is to help my launch. I need a tad more power to get down into the 1.7 60' times.

Then I have a button nozzle that works ONLY IF the WOT nozzle is also activated. This prevents accidental button pushing. It also allows me to blow a fuck load more nitrous into the motor!

I tested it tonight with just a 20 dry shot in the WOT and a 50-60 shot on the button. FAST. But was only testing in 3rd gear and above. That Infinity G35 really probablly didnt know why I was catching them at over 90 mph on a closed course on ramp!

But the WOT nozzle was barely noticable. So I have switched to a 50-60 shot at the WOT and the button. Kind of scared to try it....

But I will find out Saturday at the dragstrip. Mid 13's are a given. Lets see how low I can go.... Technically a 12.99 is possible, but I doubt it.

I've always wondered what running either medical or torch oxygen would do to an engine. I have a good amount of both.

DO NOT add compressed oxygen to you engine. I can't remember why but I think it resulted in BAD THINGS happening....

Yeah, its the heat. The nitrogen in nitrous helps absorb a lot of heat during combustion but if you are using just compressed oxygen, it will heat up way more.

I was in a built-motor station wagon the other day that had a 100 shot, direct port nitrous injection.

Holy shit.

It lived!

Not as good as expected, but on my 5th or 6th pass I pulled a 13.7 @ 99.

I recounted my time slips. It was my 8th pass on the bottle, with some freeway "testing" before hand. ie, the bottle was half empty. At PIR this coming weekend I expect to pull a sub 13.5.....

I shudder to think what you could do with a good closed deck block with forged internals...

the whole oxygen thing is because of heat. @ 1500 degress nitrogen and oxygen separate. at that point you can burn the oxygen and the nitrogen absorbs the heat.

i have only seen one oxygen injected motor and it was a 454ci camaro, and the block and heads were worth like $30,000 i guess.

oxygen might work if your do a water injection with it. but i wouldnt trust our aluminum heads to that kind of rapid head increase and rapid decrease. but if could get it to work with oxygen that would be bad ass.

and doug you do have the fastest boosted NA in the northwest.

Looks like a monster's crawling out of your engine bay through your hood!! Hopefully you've got some giddyup there to go with the looks! Cheers,
