A/C belt wobble

Post by mvons »

The A/C belt seems tight (mechanic installed it when timing belt done) last year.

When we put the A/C on high, or it may be when the A/C has run for a minute, the belt seems loose.

What would caulse the belt to be fine when the A/C starts but then start to wobble and appear loose?

The A/C has never had any work except replacing the pulley two years ago. Is the compressor okay?

A/C is used as my husband works in Palm Springs... usually 117F but a "cool" 99F today.

We wouldn't have noticed this if we weren't inspecting everything minutely after replacing the heater core.

Thank you forum for the post of the test connector causing a blinking check engine light. Ours also caused the radiator fan to start when the key was in on position.

I love our new modene radiator - all metal - better than oem. Nice that a company still is good after 60 years!

Found out the belt is too loose.

Now we can't figure out what socket we used to get the bolt off to tighten the pulley.

it's a 14, use a crescent wrench (at least I always have to) and a 12 for the long bolt.
