Which clutch should i use?

Post by adema2626 »

Hi, I just bought a 91 Subaru Legacy EJ22T and I’m looking to replace the clutch and i heard that a good clutch to put into them was an OEM WRX clutch and i just wanted to check and see what you guys had to say or if you had any suggestions of what type of clutch I should use. Thanks

If you use the WRX clutch & pressure plate you will also need a WRX flywheel since the mating surface is larger then the turbo legacy.

Ok, So if i get the WRX F/W and WRX clutch & pressure plate everything should bolt right up to the Legacy tranny correct? Does it matter what year of stuff i get and does it all half to be the same year? Thanks

Yes, if you get all WRX stuff, it'll bolt up.

I don't believe they've changed stuff on the WRX, but it'd probably be a good idea to get the clutch & pp for the same year. You may want to just double check with your local subaru dealer or on www.nasioc.com if the flywheel has changed....I don't think it has though.

I'll go ahead and confirm, no WRX flywheel needed. I used to think so, but I investigated for myself.

anyone know how much of a gain this is? Obviously the wrx motor has a couple more hp than a 2.2  but on a stock motor is it really benificial?
