Separating Engine From Tranny

Post by adema2626 »

Ok so i have a Legacy SS and im trying to pull the engine from the tranny and get it out of the car. We have everything undone so we can pull the engine but the tranny doesnt wanna seem to seperate from the engine more then an inch. So if any of you have any advice on how to get the engine away from the tranny i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Sometimes jacking the transmission up at the front just an inch will make things slide together and apart a lot easier.

Maybe try that. Otherwise keep messing with it and it will eventually come off.

Yes, you need to take out the pin holding the clutch fork in.

You can see it in these pics

Ok well haha we tryed using an alan key on the pin and it wont give. So we are gonna impact it and hope it breaks lose. But before we do this i wanna make sure its not one of thoughs bolts/pins that you spin right instead of left.

that is just a plug ( the allen ) , once you remove the plug ,, grap (<- hehe) a long 10 mm head bolt and it will thread into the actual pin, once you get a couple threads in you can slide the pin out. Also, spray some lube spray ( wd40, pb blaster ) on the dowel pins on the block/trans and that helps too sometimes.
