By buying the rod and main bearings and head gaskets. He also picked up rings, I already have em.

Nice thing is that Kelley has a nice connection with the discount import parts store that I frequent.

$ 56 for turbo rings
$45 main bearings
$30 rod bearings

and

$70 for head gasket set. And this isnt any old head gasket. I havent seen this style yet (not that I have seen a HUGE amount) but they are 100% metal. There is a metal core, and instead of a composite material on the outside, they are a thin sheet metal with imprinted ridges around the important areas that are crush fit when installed.

So next step is for Kelley to pull his motor, and then we do a dual bearing rebuild and the he and I go in different directions for the head work.

Is this metal headgasket thickness the same as the OEM composite one?

Ive got the metal headgaskets in my motor. they are very cool and supposed to be much stronger than the normal type.
