92 Legacy Sport upgrades?

I was kinda unsure about where to post this, so i picked here. I am kinda new to the subaru world, but have come from modifying my fair share of Vw's and Bmw's. So i am looking to see what are the best bang for buck upgrades for my car. Its a 92 Legacy Sport with 159K. Intake, turbo system upgrades, etc. Thank you for your help and advice

I'll get you started though. The most common turbo mod for the SS is to replace the factory one with a 16G. Don't worry about intake unless you go to a hard core turbo. Some people use a saab intercooler for convenience and other people use a wrx intercooler that requires a little "modification" to the car. Hope that helps.

do the basics first plugs , wires, air filter, all fluids in vehicle.

if auto drain trans and change filter.

buy a repair manual.

fix any leaks you find.

replace timing belt unless you are sure of when it was last changed.

then worry about adding performance.

Already did a complete tuneup, minus a tranny fluid exchange. Only leak i found was a small oil leak. Now i wanna just pep i up a bit.

Dont know the timing belt age. What is the life on one? And i will do the tranny asap. Also, the belt in the front of the engine, is that the timing or an acessory drive belt? Because the pulley in the top, middle seems to wobble a little

very top and center pulley is the alternator.
lower center pulley is the crank pulley.
The timing belt is not visible, it is behind the plastic covers.
The belts you do see are for alternator/power steering/AC

a wobbly crank pulley can be taken care of at time of timing belt service, it is usually the result of a worn key guide stopper, which in turn loosens and causes wobble. Sometimes it is more severe and the entire crankshaft needs service, which is not the thing i hope for in your case.

How expensive is a timing belt service?

i did it myself, but if i remember $300 or $400 labor when i called a shop.

this is what i am talking about before hot rodding the little things like your pulley wobble and timing belt needs to be fixed.

+1 on the 16G and intercooler

I would add a nice exhaust setup at the same time.
