my engine swap

my engine swap
I am swapping a ej20g into my 94 touring wagon. I have already swapped a 91 turbo legacy 5spd into it with excedy stage 1 clutch. I bought a rotated turbo mount that i bought from rallitektech and also a vf39 turbo. I am having Matt Monson get my wiring for the coil on plug system figured out for me and i will be installing the engine this weekend and the early next week. Matt Monson with be modifying the wiring like snowjob did. I am then going to running an early ej20g legacy ecu for a couple of months and also be building up the support mods like the fuel system, FMIC, powerFC, and turbo for my hybrid engine going in this next summer. I wanted everyone to know what i was doing and i will be making a write up and taking a lot of pictures. If anyone has any advice on this particular project, it would be much appreciated. I have done quite a few engine replacements so i have that down, but i do need advice on some of the heater lines and coolant lines.
Thanks

Update: so the engine i was going to use has a damaged oil pick up so the short block is trashed. So, i am starting a careful rush build of a ej22t/ej20t hybrid engine. I decided if i am going to build this engine, i might as well go all out so i don't have to touch it again. I just ordered a set of eagle rods from slow-boy racing, and am also looking to buy a set of Wiseco pistons. I am going to use Cosworth rod bearings i am pretty sure and am not sure what main bearings i want to use yet, but i might just use stock.
As for the heads, i am going to do a stock rebuild and 3 angle valve grind. I just have to be careful with the valves as i don't want to have to order them from Japan. I disassembled my set and cleaned them up, checked flatness, now they just need to go in the ultrasonic cleaner before i build them.
I am not sure what thickness headgaskets i want to use yet and i don't think i want to fork the money to buy ARP headstud but we'll see.
Any comments would be great, thanks

OK, but the work is going on down in Denver. I have plenty of help and it is up to you if it is worth the drive to Denver. I will be doing some brake work up in FTC in the next couple of months. If you have anything to install, maybe we could have an install meet with a few other people.206er wrote:max if you want any help just give me a shout.

Pistons going into block:

Shortblock finished:

Cams going on:
Valve covers on and painted and baked with two coats of VHT wrinkle red paint:

Engine with exhaust manifold and turbo:

Major Parts List:
Eagle Rods were on sale at slowboy for 319 when i bought them. Make sure they are in stock. http://slowboyracing.com/shop.php?sid=&cat=1607
Wiseco Pistons kit. $450 I went with 97.5mm pistons, if I would have put two and two together and realized i had to bore the block anyways, i would have gone with the 98mm pistons.

Cometic headgaskets $55 for each side. part # W6319-2 .054 thickness, 98mm. http://www.importperformanceparts.net/
Boring and block machining= $190 Ridge Reamer in Arvada, Co 303 420-3543

Yes, but you haven't been driving a car with a 1.8L, 150K suspension, and a Sparco Evo for the last 6 months.
While great on gas, it will light a fire under your ass to get the a fast/comfortable car running again. My legacy is going to be waiting for its two sedan swap brothers for a few months it looks like from talking to judd and you. I should have my fmic and PowerFC by then.

Engine is in. Matt Monson came down on Saturday and worked on the wiring while i finished up the intake manifold. Then i installed it. All went well except for me installing one of my engine mounts backwards.
Now i just need to connect everything. That will wait till friday. The only other thing i added is a lightened Excedy flywheel(12.75lbs). So between the rods, pistons, and flywheel, i lost 8.25lbs. 7.25 of that being the flywheel.
