How to source JDM parts

Post by Splinter »

Trying to track down a JDM bumper with the foglight brackets

Anyone have any clues on this?

Ebay...specifically a seller jhot-imports

the foglight brackets just screw in though, so all you really need are the brackets...

The Postface bumper skins are all the same

I have seen a number of postface cars with the fogs installed in the factory bumper, with no problems...

What exactly doesn't work?

Maybe canadian spec bumpers are bigger..

Basically the top of the foglight mount would have to be 'inside' the bottom of the bumper in order for the lens to sit properly in the hole

So you are referring to the bumper beam and not the skin then?

If that is the case, just plasma cut some pieces out of the beam

Yea, the beam

The JDM bumper looks similar enough to the Canadian one to pass inspection, a Canadian one with big scorched holes in it will not.

Yeah...the JDM beam is indeed different...

But you really can't see the beam unless you pull the bumper off...which I doubt they do in inspection?

Or are they that crazy

They're really cracking down on stuff here....

But I suppose if I do get an inspection and fail I can always switch it back to stock...

Not sure, but I think some just flatten the JDM brackets. I got a set off a member here and mine are flattened.

the jdm and edm bumper beam is totaly different then the usdm and can. ours looks like a big i beam-- jdm/edm is like sheet metal. i did the swap. you either get one from over the pond or cut your bumper beam to get the fogs in.
j-hot is a good idea--or find a good subaru salvage overseas.
