should I shim my JDM 12mm oil pump?

Post by wrxzzz »

I'm building a 2.35L stroker out of an ej22t and picked up a 12mm oil pump. I am planning to stick another shim in it to up the preasure. Has anyone done this and if so, what pressures are you running?

I was going to steer you towards the NASIOC thread, but see you already put up a fresh one. I can't speak for the whole board, but I think the general consensus here is that the 10mm stock Ej22T pump is more than adequate. Plenty of guys have made 400whp using it and run their engines for significant numbers of miles. Maybe if you want to join the 500-600whp club, you need that 12 mm pump, but otherwise it's an expense most of us early guys (aka build it right, but build it cheap) don't thinks is required...

I read the thread you're talking about but no one on there had a 12mm pump. I only paid 150 for the pump shipped which isn't much more than a ej22t pump. I'm doing all the work myself and am calling it a budget build. I don't think I'll ever see 500whp but I would like to see 400.
