Its also important to note that the last pump on a speed bleeder should be done like a regular bleeder, to ensure no air sneaks past the check valve

So what's the advantage?

I found it a lot easier, since you're not constantly opening and closing the valve, you only need to do it once on each wheel.

Ah, alright now I'm getting this. Well since I fully intend to have a helping hand and am very patient, I don't think I'll invest in any just yet.

Your choice.

I just point out my experiences and attempt to inform others. I can't spend your money (unless you send it to me  ), so ultimately it's your decision.

That being said, everything I post is accurate to the best of my knowledge.

I wish I could spend your money. God I love this car and throw every dollar I earn at it--no regrets. :-D

EDIT: Hell I could bleed the brakes pretty soon, I just need some transparent hose. I might even go buy some now! I recently remembered that I have a box (!) of DOT3 brake fluid from when my dad's Jaguar leaked it badly. I'll do that and see how it feels, then after I know how to bleed the brake properly I'll buy some Motul or Super Blue.

... Would using very old brake fluid like that be bad in any way? The containers are still sealed.

I don't see the advantage to a speed bleeder over my hose method except to the guy selling them. It also gives you something to do with old fluid (to fill the waste container enough to cover the other end of the hose). You still need a hose for the speed bleeder to get the fluid somewhere anyway. If you just make sure the other side is covered by fluid, you won't get air back in. Maybe you use a little more fluid, but I've never used a whole container anyway and any extra is junk once you open it since it absorbs water, so you might as well use as much as you can.

Alright, got 10 feet of 1/4" clear vinyl hose from Home Depot, fit perfectly. I might bleed them this weekend.
