just wondering how you guys do it? Ive actually never done it.

a pressure washer sounds like the fastest but also the harshest way. I'd probably be ok as long as I pulled the battery and didnt aim it at hose connections and stuff right?

I just sprayed my entire engine bay with engine cleaner and power washed with anger. Because of this after cleaning my engine would spudder. Reason for that was water got to the spark plug holes, just blew them out with compressed air and it was perfect!

Take out your ignitor too... Im pretty sure washing my engine was responsible for the death of mine.

Power washing is okay as long as you stay away from the battery, alternator, and coil pack. Aim at the valve covers and around their seals and under the intake to clean off without hitting too many electronics.

Getting water in there isn't going to kill it. The electronic parts from the factory are sealed.

i tried to wash mine a month back after i went mudding, i just thought while i was spraying mud off the bottom of the motor i should go ahead an get the oil and grease off everything

bad idea, i took an air compressor and sprayed the water out of the plug holes and all the other holes and crevices, but i geuss there was still plenty stuck somewhere cause it sputtered and missed for almost a week, i was pissed off to cause i was thinking the problems might be permenant

Cover your coilpack and plugs with plastic bags, don't focus water anywhere near them, and you'll be fine. Ive cleaned mine at least 3 times this way. Runs like a champ.

Power washing = bad idea. Yes, sputtering etc. You've got to go in by hand with a can of engine cleaner. Kleinkid can attest that there are no short cuts. Yikes! AW

I've hit my engine with a pressure washer tons of times with no consideration for electronics, never had a problem.

Just to note....you don't want to use a steam type cleaner where the water gets too hot. The hot temps/steam can cause the rubber to get brittle and crack prematurely.

I like zep 50, with a hose coming straight from my water heater. Works every time.
