Car using water

For about every 50km (urban), I have to put in about 1L of water into the resivour.

Any thoughts as to what is going on?

Very likely the beginning of your head gaskets going bad. If not, then you possibly have a cracked radiator. Either way, both are not good for the cooling system.

Be careful if it's the radiator going. Once it starts to go, it can go pretty quickly.

Look at the endtanks, as the plastic they're made of has a tendency to crack with age.

I've replaced the radiator a few months ago because the old one cracked.

Then I'd honestly start putting money aside to deal with replacing the head gaskets. Whether it's going to be a shop doing the work or you doing the work. It's best to get a full engine gasket kit and replace as many of the old gaskets as you can. Take issue to valve cover leaks, oil pan leaks, etc. while the motor is pulled for the removal of the heads.

Look up Engine Specialties on the North Shore...for the head gasket replacement...

That is my Uncle's company...and he does fantastic work and really knows Subarus...

How about check your water pump. Don't immediately assume it's the head gaskets.

If your pump is going bad the seals are likely to leak and let water out of the "weep hole".

I would suggest starting up your engine and let it warm up to operating temp. Then check to see if water is dripping on the ground from anywhere. check all your hoses first, especially the ones going to your turbo and coming from the coolant reservoir tank.

you can get a dye to put in the water, and it comes with a black light so anywhere water has leaked before willl show up

^^ +1... But make sure most of the lights around you are off, it can be kinda hard to see any leaks if there is too much ambient light.
