yeah my cel came on today and it was a code 22 (knock sensor).
so i replaced the KS with a brand new one and cleared the ecu. i still have the code!!
anyone know what else could be throwing the code?
the engine definitely does not have a knock. i don't hear anything and it only has 101K miles on it.
your thoughts?

How tight did you tighten the bolt for the knock sensor? If you torque it too much, you will damage the knock sensor. I know, I did it. Also, is the wire leading up to it in good condition?

i tightened it to 15 tq/lbs. it seems pretty snug...
and i'm positive i don't have any rod knock. my old engine did. this one is soooooooo unbelievably quiet lol.
i haven't checked the wire. i suppose it could be damaged. can i just splice in a new wire or is it an insulated wire?

Check/clean your grounds.
I was getting that code and a code for the o2 sensor after installing a brand new knock sensor. Turned out to be the ground on the left rear of the intake mani was loose.

How did you clear the ECU? Just unhooking the battery will not always do it.

i've tried unplugging the battery and leaving it over night and i've tried doing the whole reset where you drive around with the connectors plugged in and whatnot.
i rewired the knocksensor.
now when my car is cold and i start it there isn't a CEL, but once it warms up that light pops back on.
any ideas?
maybe it's just a bad ecu?
but i did pull the ecu and it looked fine...

What did you do with the knock sensor? How did you "rewire" it?

i took the signal wire and wired it straight to the ecu.
then i took the shield wire from the ecu straight to the chassis.
what gets me is that the light will be off when i first start the car and then after about 5-10 minutes it will come back on...

So you just ran two new wires for the knock sensor?
How are your engine grounds?

oh wow. my wiring was fine apparently.
i ended up just taking it to a shop.
the person who owned the car before me put the wrong cam angle sensor on so it was causing something to do something which caused another something to do something and throw a knock sensor code.
lol i never would have figured that out.
