Why the switch back to the legacy? Most people are looking to switch to an impreza and never switch back.

The tlegs don't sport any better aero than other subarus, you know that, right? Theirs is the industry standard drag coeff of something like .08, nothing impressive by any means. Even the STi didn't boast anything noteworthy in the aero dept, and other imprezas weren't far behind.

IIRC, the Legacy sedan had a CD of .34 and the Impreza a .36. I would guess the extra length is a big contributor to the better number. I might not remember right, though - they're all bricks to me compared to where I'm going with my designs.

^^ lol lol so true .

i know there all bricks.......for me i just miss it and it drives so much better on the hwys.... it could be the length of it...... im sure a couple of add ons and better stuff will make it more cd friendly.

i was also thinking of putting all my impreza stuff in my svx ej22t 6mt and all the works........ should make it lighter get rid of most of the crap in the car to make it even more lighter.....then i will have crazy aero dynamics and lighter as well.

ok what should i make

svx
legacy turbo
or leave it alone in my gc impreza

need some help on this

they are just different feeling cars despite many similarities. there are those of us who prefer the legacy for whatever reason. for me it is that they are a cross between a rally car and an econoline.

Build an SVX, but chop the roof off and instal a teardrop canopy over the driver's side, covering the passenger side with sheet metal. Then you could eliminate the door cards, hardware, and weld them shut since you'll be entering and exiting the vehicle by either popping the canopy open or sliding it back like a WWII fighter plane. That would lose a lot of weight and help aerodynamics considerably. Only issue might be inspection as the canopy is made out of acrylic and couldn't use wipers, though you could rig up an air compressor to blow the windshield clean in the rain. In the US, this would be illegal.

I'm thinking the canopy along the lines of the RV-series (for Vans kit aircraft). Something like this page: http://www.aircraftextras.com/Canopies.htm

I've always wanted to do that to a car like an SVX, Miata, or whatever and I think you're one of the only other people crazy enough to try it. At this point I'm just going to build a whole 'car' using this idea.

Yeah, somebody does something like that fairly often. Very much like a D-Type Jag. The only real difference is that I'd have a full sliding canopy (or a flip section if, but that's nowhere near as cool or useful since you can't drive with it open) and possibly keep the back seat in the SVX so you have a tandem 2-seater (good to give the chicks you'd attract a ride around ... and back to your place). Definitely need to keep A/C unless you want to run with the canopy slid back all the time, get it tinted, or use Smartglass (but then you'd have to build the canopy custom rather than buying it from an kit plane supplier and, in my case anyway, the canopy would not turn out as cool as the compound-curved bubble shape).
