Intercooler Install Pix *finally*

So what I'm seeing here is to stay away from Autometer for a boost gauge then. Is it worth tracking down a stock WRX column mount gauge then, if not who's been the most solid company to go with so far?

I ran a Phantom Series Autometer boost gauge and it was spot on.
If a boost gauge gets dropped or banged up too hard during shipping it can screw up the spring inside and cause the gauge to read wrong.

My first boost gauge was an OBX and it was major piece of crap. It read wrong right out of the box and the light assembly was missing.

I have an OLD (used in my cars since'99) Autometer 30/20psi gauge in our WRX & it works well & still reads in the 0 range when the car is off.
I have another A/M 30/30psi that was used in my GVR4 & is now in the Starlet & has seen a steady 35psi (datalog) with no probs, but it is also pretty old - I bought it in '01-02.

I had problems with 3 A/M gauges in a row, they started fine, but eventually would not 0-out when the car was off, except for the last one that was @ 1psi still in the box.

I'll never buy an Autometer boost gauge ever again.

When you think about it the zero range box on A/M gauges is a BS way of saying around/about zero. Other gauges use a hash mark to indicate zero.

For folks looking for low priced low-PSI gauges VDO also makes 0-10 & 0-15 PSI gauges

its just an autometer pod from auto zone.. i used a heat gun and wrapped it around the pillar plastic.. if you look closer its not sooo clean. it was kinda my prototype.. im making a quad pod that will look better!

I was at the San Francisco International Auto show yesterday and this intercooler is the same size as those installed on current Impreza and Legacy turbos so it must not be that bad.

Even though the new STI was present it was behind a rope and they didnt open the hood so I couldnt see its intercooler.

The second coolest thing at the entire show was a full on motion simulator provided by Subaru! I will post a picture but it had three large LCD monitors and a racing seat + wheel and as you went over bumps in the rally game it really threw the player around. Very cool

Yeah, the wife & I got to play in the GT4 simulator at the Philly Auto Show this year. $10 fee, but it went a charity they were sponsoring. She chose the WRC option, I chose the Spec.B option. Kicked ass!
