$47 to ship a cam & crank sensor?! f*** you subaruparts

Post by biggreen96 »

It's bad enough that combined they cost 395.02, they are magnets wrapped in plastic with wires attached for christs sake. But almost 50 bucks to ship? eat a dick subaruparts.com.

uggg and the blackbart automart is closed for a while too... good thing I work 2 blocks from home.

So I may want to be purchasing a cam or crank or both used and in working order soon, depends on when I what I find out tomorrow. I hope its just the wiring.

That's why I use Liberty Subaru in New Jersey. Their prices have always been within a few cents of Subaruparts, sometime higer, but usually lower. The best part is that they CHARGE THE ACTUAL SHIPPING COST :D

They once even upgraded to UPS Red Saturday delivery and charged me the UPS ground rate, when there was a delay between the DC and their shop.

Their website isn't as good as the others, but the parts guys are real good and helpful, even with parts for my SVX and Brat.

You need to ask for the Subaru-SVX.net pricing.

I noticed the same thing with that company. I order two small parts (purge value and knock senser) and it was $20 to ship. I was surprised they charged $8 for the ks and $12 for the purge. The overall price was cheap enough I went through with the order. I have a feeling that it is a limitation with their website's ability to calculate shipping on the fly so they error on the high (high) side. It should have been only $10 max for both those small parts.

That's weird. I've only ordered larger packages and the shipping was cheaper than that. I'd definitely just get some used sensors somewhere.

shipping calculators usually have a handling charge built in and the basic UPS shipping charge is about $10 even if it's across the street. so $20 if it's cross country makes sense to me

well 400 bucks is almost half my monthly income, so I need to find some used ones if mine turn out to be bad. I don't think they could both die at the exact same moment.

Last time I was there, the shipping was simply 12% of the total cost of the order. So their online system doesn't care what you order, only the amount.

all this talk of ridiculous prices made me look at one suppliers catalog, and laugh. they've got a bunch of bits priced out under a buck. like the front bumper chrome strip, the hood latch assembly, and some other crapola. I'm fighting myself not to buy it all as spares :P

Wait a minute, you can get the front bumper crome strip for less than a $1.00 or do you mean a big BUCK as in $100?

If you can get if for less than $1.00 and are willing to help a man out, shoot me a PM :).

And yeah man, screw that 12% shipping. That's pretty messed up business ethics.

Sometimes the screw holding them can get loose and they get too far from the wheel to read it.

I can't believe a simple wipe down fixed the issue.
