Oh geez, I didn't even see that it was a 5MT.
The 5MT has no filter, as vrg3 pointed out.

Well my speedometer stopped working so I decided to try to fix it. I started by taking the little metal tube off that screws into the transmission. I found out that the cable was rusted in half and this mud looking stuff came out of the transmission so I decided to change it but it didnt clean out all that gunk. So can anybody tell me what came out of my transmission and why. I thought my Transmission filter was stopped up but I guess mine doesnt have one. The car has over 300,000 miles on it.

it sounds like it was just the well used gear oil coming out.93TurboLegacy wrote:Well my speedometer stopped working so I decided to try to fix it.
