Too much boost!

Post by LGT93 »

I just bought a 93 legacy turbo with 173K for $700 that needs some work but runs good. When i got the car it would cut out at about 5000 rpm at full throtle. The other day i hooked up a boost gauge and its running about 13psi! So is the cutting out the fuel cut out? What would cause to much boost? O and i just join the forum tonite and hope to learn alot.

Check that your vacuum hoses are all hooked up right. There's a diagram in the Intake forum.

It could be. Try moving the wastegate actuator by hand; it should take a lot of effort but you should be able ot move it.

It's technically a sustained 3 seconds of 12.75 PSI or more of boost that you get fuel cut.

The boost level really depends on elevation.
It has to do with absolute pressure, not manifold pressure. do you have any mods at all?
Kickin' it old-school.
