How can i tell if my struts are bad???
i've been an audi guy my whole life, and when the shocks blow you know it because they leak oil all over the shock body....i'm under the impression these are gas/air shocks, so how can i tell if they are bad? I have a mild hunch my front shocks are bad, front left one makes some strange noises. Any tell-tale signs??
Also, where is the cheapest place to get OEM ones, don't care about performance or lowering, just want stock/oem ones.
Thanks

oil, as you already stated. too much bounce, noise.
if you think they are bad, they probably are. struts are not designed to last that long.
I can get you a good deal on some stock replacements if you want.

KYB GR2s are better and cheaper than OEM. They are gas. Gas struts are bad when they are stiff as hell or (later on) the car bounces all over the place. Oil struts just seam to blow out and bounce. The tire-kicker way to test is to push down on each corner hard and if it bounces more than twice, the struts are bad.
Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.
Where do you recommend getting the KYB's from? Tirerack??evolutionmovement wrote:KYB GR2s are better and cheaper than OEM. They are gas. That's where I would get them, but there might be cheaper places. I think you can order them direct from KYB.
