So i think i Cracked my turbo, Videos

Post by 94SS_Canada »

WEll a responsible owner myself was cleaning my car today, its ran like a top ever since i got it, so i clean off the engine bay and finish with the car, i drive away and all i can feel is shaking i pull oer inspect my engine and see nothing out of the ordinary except for the fact the moter was shaking alot more than it should be, i thought maybe i got water onto a sensor so i left it overnight and the same tings the exhaust is shuddering but the moter seems to be running fine, the restriction seems to be in the exhaust, it not possible i clogged up a cat that quick or did somehow water get into the exhaust it would of evaporated anyways?

please help! Videos too!

While its idling, start either pulling plug wires or unclipping injector clips. You will find the "dead" cylinder this way because all but one(two) will kill the engine, but the dead one will not make a difference.

Probably a plug wire, or bad plug.

Used a low pressure wash, and it was short but didnt cover any electrical connections, ive removed the turbo and its fine were swapping a TD04 in there right now, i have to modify some stuff and i have a huge question, Is this important to have or can my car be fine without it?

ALso if the coil pack is bad, can i grab one from a NA legacy sitting at pick n pull?

Lol you DEFINITELY need that. That's the charge pipe, and the little black thing is your bypass valve.

Yes, that will work, maybe you'll even find it to be a diamond coil pack. They are a little better than the hitachi ones.

The td04... has a 90* outlet, so you need to intercool or rig up some charge pipe.

I think you have things confused. You need to modify the charge pipe because of the 90* outlet.

The TD04 doesn't have a 90* inlet.

I think you meant what I'm saying, just had it worded backwards. Let us know if you need any help!

A silicon hose with a 90* bend might work.

You should just throw on an intercooler right now. You've saved yourself a lot of work by putting on the TD04.

you may have even developed a miss, that what it sounds like to me. but hard to say through that video.

if you have a temp gauge, check each cylinder when its running, if one is colder then the rest you have a miss, which could be caused by a bad injector or bad spark plug and other stuff but I'd check the 1st two first.

How exactly do i test for a miss, using the temp guage method, guide me in the right direction and i can figure this out, a wrx intercooler will fit around my resoirvoir right?

with these engines, it might be hard, but check the temp of each cylinder on the exterior of the engine. If one is way colder then the rest then that would be the one thats not firing.
