removing the rev limiter
i need a diagram of the ecu for an impreza/legacy, i am building a rally car and useing a mild build on a motor for a bit till the radical one gets done. i am running solid lifter heads, and a few other goodies. but any way i want to be able to rapp the motor out to 7500 rpm. any one know how to remove it?

To remove it from the stock ECU would involve a custom EPROM.
I'm not sure who can do that affordably.
A standalone is most likely your best bet considering your other mods.

No it can't. The ECU fires the coils directly, so when the ECU hits rev limit, there will be no signal to 'override'.

More then likely, he can only do that on the OBD2 ECU's.

Depends what ECU your car has. Some Legacies between 1992 and 1996 use the same JECS OBD1 ECU as the SVX. But I think it's only the non-turbo cars, not the Turbo versions. I have been doing some work on my SVX ECU and I know where the rev limit is stored and how to reprogram it. If you have the same ECU and are good with computers and electronics then drop me an email and I'll explain it to you.
just to bump this, storm can raise the limit to 7,500. he charges like $50 plus shipping for you to send your ecu to him. then he mails it back with the higher limit. he has like a 1 week turn around time. you can contact him on nasiocLegacy777 wrote:More then likely, he can only do that on the OBD2 ECU's.
