engine oil type

engine oil type
anybody have any recommendations on what type of oil/filter to use on a '92 SS? i'm guessing prolly stepping up a weight from n/a correct?

Depends on a lot of things.
Tell me more about how you drive your car and how old it is, and whether it burns/leaks oil or not. I can give you a semi-educated piece of advice on what oil to run based on that.
As for filters? Either Mobil 1 or Purolator PureONE, match up the part number at your parts store.

kinda, i run royal purple 10W30. and a regular oil filter, like a oem one from subaru.

Hm, depending on your climate I'd toss in Castrol Syntec 5W30 or 10W30 depending on your climate. If you were NA I'd say GTX but a little synthetic doesn't hurt.
Just don't waste your money on "racing" brands... the gains are minimal at best, and only show during extended service intervals - ones that outlast the filter's life.
