FEELER: custom intake/intercooler piping?

Post by Binford »

As was noticed in this thread

http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic. ... highlight=

there seems to be some interest in custom piping. If I could get a count of how many people would be interested in these I could make some up, and I'd rather not have a bunch leftover! I'll list some approximate prices for what I think a fair price would be. Let me know! :D

Intake pipe (extended version of "coffee mug mod") $30 + shipping
BOV adapter $10 + shipping
Steel y-pipe (requires stock TMIC flanges) $45

Also, if anyone can confirm that the y-pipe would have to be shorter on the '06-up TMIC it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The one that I currently have and can duplicate is for the '02 to '05. I don't know the difference in y-pipes beyond that, so i don't know if it could be usable on the newer style.

Is anyone actually interested in the BOV adapter? I know you can get an aluminum one for pretty cheap. I'm thinking of editing my first post here to delete that.

I'm sure if you made some bov adapters, people would buy them. I've already gone atmospheric, so thats not an issue for me. I am interested in the intake pipe. I have an 06 tmic, what measurements do you need?

If the price is right, I want one of those intake pipes... Looks alot better than a cheap coffee mug under the hood.

I'd go for the intake pipe and the TMIC pipe (02-05).

I would go for the intake pipe, and as for the Y-pipe, I have both an 02 and an 06(maybe 07) intercooler sitting at home, Ill check to see if they are the same length. But I am correct in assuming that this will remove the need to use extra piping when connecting it to a TD-04 or similar turbo?

If that is the case
I'm down for a intake and a Y-pipe

And I'll check Y-pipe lengths as soon as I get home.

Funny you mention this, before I saw your FS thread I thought about fabbing an intake myself. I'd be interested, as long as I don't have to block my PCV valve off ;-)

tmic pipe

Post by def09 »

Using the 06 tmic with a 02-05 wrx silicone hose I had to lengthen silicone "Y" hose going to the vf39 about and inch. I think with this combo Frantic 4 also installed the same with a For XT silicone kit fit a lot easier between the intercooler inlets.

The y-pipe would just need a 90* rubber/silicone elbow from the turbo outlet, and (2) rubber/silicone couplers. I'll take my car apart to take pics of my setup so everyone has a better understanding.

Here we go, sorry its late...

The pipes are pretty similar, except the one on the 02 (the one on top), is about 1/2 in longer and 1/2 in shorter.

The too cast pieces that bolt to the intercooler are further apart on the 06 than the 03. I havn't had the chance to measure the distance, but I'm gonna throw it out there that it is different.

You setup looks great!

Depending on your schedule, I'm in for the 'coffee-cup mod' and, if you can, the Y-pipe adapter for a '06 TMIC.

And pics when you get'em would be cool, too.

Thanks!
