yea its weird ive known a couple people who have had the same problems. it seems like a crappy design.

i was thinking about just taking in a crank to a machine shop and having them cut a regular rectangle keyway into the crank for more contact area for the pullys and timing sprocket.

whats everyones input on doing that?

The design isn't bad. The misprint in the factory manual which trickled down to all the other manuals is what is bad. I'm sure that little simple misprint has caused oodles of fubared motors due to the crank pulley coming loose.
