Compatible AT for a 93 legacy Turbo wagon

Post by M155L3R »

Sorry if this question is a repeat, I did try to search. But I am having a hard time finding a transmission for my 93 t-wagon. I was wondering what type or range of automatic trans will work in the wagon. I have found some impreza's and legacys here locally all na and under 96. Will any of these work?? Again if this is a repeat sorry.

The transmissions, both auto and manual, from the turbo Legacys are different (stronger) than any of the n/a cars. I'm not sure about fitment. But even if an n/a trans is a direct drop-in, it's probably not gonna hold up too well unless you have it re-built. And if your gonna do that, you may as well have them re-build your original trans instead of chancing it with a weaker one.

My suggestion, however, is to ditch automatics all together: Touring Wagon 5MT Swap.
93 Touring Wagon (EJ20G 5spd Swap) -- Finally back and running strong as ever!

05 Outback 2.5XT 5spd -- Now the wife can have her SUV and get in on the turbo Legacy goodness at the same time.

Your 93 At has a 3.9 final drive ratio. That's the big thing to keep in mind. All the 91-94 turbo legacy AT's are 3.9 final drive, as well as the 92-94 non-turbo AT's. Some of the mid 90's imprezas may have a 3.9 final drive ratio, but do make sure to check.
