anyone running the newer style IHI??

Post by subaru_styles »

refering to the 05+ leg, 08+ wrx style turbo with the flanged vertical outlet. ie; the VF40, VF52, etc

i haven't seen any mention of it yet on here.

thinking im gonna go this route instead of using my vf8 for now. pro's would be easier pipping (for my IC setups) and no need to change around the vac lines that would normally get in the way of the outlet of the vf8.

I believe AVO and Perrin makes a flange that bolt on to the newer style so that you can connect a fmic easier. I dont see why you could do it with that.

I've heard about the turbo flange adapter as mentioned, but I haven't seen one yet.

I'd like to see this done though. I'm not sure what the outlet flange would look like, but I could see how it would be easier to work with. My VF8 install did require some PCV system modifications, but outside of that it installed easily with a 07 WRX intercooler.

What kind of intercooler plans did you have?

yeah, the flange is gonna be a easy part. using this turbo i have a tmic from an 2.5rs turbo kit, or a fmic

With a TMIC this is probably going to be a bitch.

The flange raises the oulet of the turbo quite a bit, I saw it on Ralliteks new WRX.

It would be easier to use that turbo with a FMIC
