Odd Request. ej22t -> ej22e

Post by Weazel240 »

Dont ask me why i wanna do that, i have a rollin wagon shell.
i wanna do a lil project, plus i would like to get the wagon to run to haul junk in.

Its a 94 turbo wagon shell. IF i get a 94 ej22e engine and harness and ecu it should all just plug and play correct?
Install engine, plug in 94 ej22e harness and ecu and thats it?
no need to splice wiring harness correct?
I have a reg engine crossmember and a non turbo radiator.
is this all i pretty much need?

Halp me plz! thanks

You shouldn't need the harness. If you do a search, you should be able to find which wires to switch at the ECU.

Ah, well you'll need the exhaust, too.

Where was the harness cut? You *shouldn't* have to do a whole lot to make it run.

harness was uncut.
the shell is missing the engine harness.
i guess who took the engine, took the whole swap set,(engine xmember, ecu, harness)

SO i wanna replace the shell with a ej22e.
DO I NEED TO DO SPLICING? or is the 22e harness will all plug in? hello? thanks

Nothing will need to be spliced or switched around at all if you have the EJ22E harness and ECU.

Just make sure it's a 92-94 engine harness. The 90-91 engine harness with the round connector won't work with your chassis harness. You need the engine harness that has 3 rectangular connectors.

Then all you need to do is move around a few pins at where the ECU plugs in to the chassis harness and you are good to go.

Pretty sure all the 90-91 non-turbo engines used the 3 rectangular connectors, while all the turbos had 2 rectangular, and 1 round connector.

I'll probably go to hell for disagreeing w/Josh, but my '91 Turbo Connnectors matched my '90 NA Connectors when I did the swap...plug for plug.

Not the NA 90 wagon that I did my first swap on. Maybe it was a US made vehicle versus a Japanese vehicle made thing. I know we've found discrepancies in the past that led to what factory the cars came from versus the year and model.

thanks everyone for the help.. But i just wanna up date...

as the first post states..
_ i have a 94 turbo automatic wagon with NO ENGINE, ECU, HARNESS.

I wanna throw the ej22e in.

I am about to pick a WHOLE 1992 Legacy from a local guy. Its complete minus front calipers, with slight front damage.
the engine runs, new HG, Tbelts, aux belts, no Over heat, But it is stick shift.

****** as for my auto trans wagon, all i need to do is pull the clutch/flywheel off the ej22e and throw on a Torque converter correct?

other then that.. the engine, and wires should all be plug and play with correct non turbo automatic ecu..
please confirm.

Just looked in the parts book, and yes the 91 turbo harness uses the three rectangular plugs.

Im doing the same thing to get my wagon running. Im taking all the control boxes etc and swapping them. My question is, since im using a 90 harness in my 92 ive noticed after cutting the strand of wires that runs to the horn and headlights that the gauge of the white/red wire and the other wire are larger in the 92.

Could this be a fault the 90 had that the 92 was solved? A couple wires dont match up either.

It could be....the wiring in these cars is a little anemic, and they may have bumped up the gauge a little.
