92-94 sidemarkers on 90-91

Post by THAWA »

Is this a fesiable idea? meaning can I just take the little piece of trim from a 92-94 with the sidemarker lights and put it straight on my 90? Or is there a difference in measurements? The area seems the same but you never know with year changes.

From looking at it, the 92-94 side marker lights have a different shape than the 90-91s. It would likely involve a fender swap to work.

Where on the 90-91's wiring harness are you gonna attach these lights? But hey, I'm not the one who messes with the electrical stuff

I'm thinking either splicing it into the parking lights or into the turn signals

Yeah, you can swap the trim and put the lights in.

As for wiring it, I recommend connecting one wire to the switched side of the turn signal and one wire to the switched side of the parking light. That way, the sidemarker will function as both a parking light and a turn signal.

I highly recommend this mod to anyone with a 90-91 Legacy! It will make your turn signal visible from the side. Also, put a W5W (also called 2825) bulb in it instead of the stock 194. The W5W is brighter than the 194.

Yes, you can do that.

I also would have to agree on the W5W bulb being the one to go with, they might cost slightly more, but they are well worth the extra money...

NAPA has them for a buck each, only 20 cents more than the 194.

Oops. Thought you were talking about the front lights, not the side lights. Cool mod though. I've been thinking of doing that to mine as well.

Only problem is that many 90-91 have gray plastic while many 92-94 have black plastic. Otherwise the hole exists in the fender already!
