Lifter help
Hey guys so i recently just rebuilt a ej22t and got it in the car started up fine and ran well. Lifters were really loud for about 20mins before they got pumped up. But then it seemed like i still had one or two stuck so i pulled the motor all the way back out and put it back on the engine stand and pulled the rocker arms off and i have 2 stuck ones. One on each side does anyone have any ideas on how to get these things on stuck.

Re: Lifter help
You really didn't need to pull the motor again just to do the lifters. However, what I would suggest is bleeding the lifters again, and then reinstall. The lifters should be firm and not squishy once they've been bled. If you have squishy lifters after you bled them, then you need to replace those.

Re: Lifter help
HLA = Hydraulic Lash Adjuster. Those are the lifters on our car. Once you have the rocker arms off, _gently_ tug the HLA's out of their spots with a pair of pliers. Most of them will pop right out. The bleed procedure is in the FSM, but basically submerse them in oil, depress the ball valve and bleed out the air, let it suck oil in the other end, repeat. You don't want them squishy at all when you're done.

Re: Lifter help
I find it so weird that so many people have issues with hla's.When i rebuilt my engine i had meant to bleed them before assembly and had actually pumped all the oil out of them and soaked them in PB in preparation.Long story short i forgot to do it and started my engine with them dry, never heard a noise and never have since.
