You need matching cams....I don't know what the difference though between the FF & HF cams are though....

i replied to you in the engine thread, have matching intake and exhaust cams. although as pairs they are different, one set being 04 wrx and one being 05 wrx. should be fine as structurally and visually they were the same.

Does anyone remember how the breather system ties together?
All the block portions, how are the hoses mapped?
That's one of the last things i need!

So green = Breather hoses + pcv,
blue = lines from blowoff valve, map line and that other line that i dont know what it is.
does this look ok?

Re: Zach's TW of Doom...(vid @ last page!)
Ideas i've encountered include low compression on a cylinder... but that's not the case.
Turbo going bad wouldn't make sense if i have sweet-awesome boost above 3500..
Tune.,maybe
Mechanic/engine builder guy possibly put the timing belt in off a tooth? would that happen and cause these symptoms? or maybe the crank was off a degree or something?
it's weird because i was able to fly with no problems to 6-7-8k rpms this past summer.
Anybody who has had their car tuned care to chime in? Josh
jolting occurs under full throttle in gears 2, 3, 4. ..

I think one tooth off can cause about 25% loss in performance so it would be noticeable.

Thanks a few of my friends and a local transmission find, car's all set!
Here's some damage shots after we cracked it,
Enjoy!
Only thing that is bad / if bad - is the front diff was welded by the previous owner so turning is kind of difficult and im 50/50 all the time.

Re: Zach's Legacy FrankenSTIn TW
Supposed to be my dynomap but isn't showing up for some reason..
So for an update on my build, I just found oil in my coolant again.
I will be pulling the motor and re doing the wiring (hopefully I can get hold of brydon), also while i have it pulled I will be
Doing new injectors and we will see what else. I'm open to recommendations, also I would love to know the best head gasket to use as I have a 22b one in here now and I guess that didnt work. Also what are recommendations for shaving the block if it is warped ?

Zach,
I fixed your image.
Are you running the stock head bolts or ARP studs?

Re: Zach's Legacy FrankenSTIn TW
Josh always knows the magic!
I am using what I imagine are the normal head studs.
I need to know what the most solid head gasket to get is, and while I am in there internals that will let me safely turn up the boost to eighteen .
Any ideas?

Re: Zach's Legacy FrankenSTIn TW
Hey Zach make sure you just run the stock headgasket for the block... Ie: ej22t block = ej22t headgasket. The hg bore MUST equal the cylinder bore.

Re: Zach's Legacy FrankenSTIn TW
Spencer call me lol, you are elusive sir. I would love your opinion on this.
Also thinking i should work on this wiring while im at it...
So just get OEM 22b headgaskets? that's what I did before, also should i get new head studs?

Re: Zach's Legacy FrankenSTIn TW
Is your block from a 22b? I dont think so =) lol
So use the graphitey HG for a 94 Legacy Turbo FROM Subaru.
Has the engine overheated? If so how many times? How bad? If its over heated pretty badly then I would replace the head bolts. OEM ones, NOT ARP headstuds.
Please tell me the last time you did the headgaskets you looked up the proper torque sequence?

Re: Zach's Legacy FrankenSTIn TW
If you have stock head bolts, they are bolts, not studs.
Based on my experience with my previous motor, I would highly suggest having both the heads and the deck resurfaced. Using the stock Subaru headgasket should be fine, that's what I went back with. However, I would suggest running ARP studs for the heads. They will provide better and more even torquing, which should stand up to higher boost.

Re: Zach's Legacy FrankenSTIn TW
Ok,
The WRX internals are rated to 18lbs of boost correct?
If I pick these up, that seems excessive considering I already warp transmissions with my tune.
Hoff can you post which ones I specifically need?
I need to email Brydon also,

Re: Zach's Legacy FrankenSTIn TW
Was told today by theshop doing my HG's that because of the differences between the heads and the block surface that i would continue to have problems with theHG's. Malarkey : http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=27136
Anyone else have similar experiences? I know I've got a "hybrid" or whatever and they might be saying this because they arent comfortable doing the work...etc.
