Re: rebuiling my engine
What is wrong with the engine?
Are you splitting the block halves? If so, you should likely replace the bearings. If you're replacing rings, the bores need to be honed, and if you're doing that, the piston clearance needs to be checked.....
If you're splitting the block halves, you should get an engine rebuild kit with all the associated gaskets, etc.

I prefer Subaru parts for rebuild, and if you want to go that route, you can get the rebuild kit from www.subarugenuineparts.com

Re: rebuiling my engine
me and my friend talk about the engine today and he think i should use stifer spring valve and ubgrade them from something better, its like chinese to me i can menage to find oem part but not performace part dunno where to look at for the 2.2 liter engine.
i jabe a question do i need an engine management for using 440cc injector ?
i found this one relatively cheap
NEW GREDDY EMANAGE BLUE w/ harness - e-manage ultimate
wonder is this make the job.

Re: rebuiling my engine
Some have used the 440cc injectors on the stock ECU. It may run a little rich. Additionally engine management would help utilize the injectors better, but it will need to be tuned.

Re: rebuiling my engine
If you're handy with metal/piping work, that kit is probably ok, but it will likely require a decent amount of modification to get it to fit.

and the 1998 outback limited with remote starter
he said that everything work but engine do tic tic tic sound on startup just like my first legacy 94 turbo did.
I was around 185000km when the engine bay got on fire. he said someone is going to see the car tomorrow
he ask him 1800$

Re: rebuiling my engine
So the 98 outback had an engine bay fire? I'm not sure I'd pursue that one.
As for the 99 Impreza, if the timing belt just needs to be replaced as part of routine maintenance, it shouldn't be a big deal. It'll just be something that needs to be done. If the belt just needs replacing as part of routine maintenance, I'd probably go after the Impreza

Re: rebuiling my engine
The turbo pump is different than the non-turbo pump. You will need to get a turbo specific water pump.
As for the power steering pump, they should be the same between non-turbo & turbo legacies.

Re: rebuiling my engine
Note too that 91 Legacy turbo, and all WRX & STI pumps will work but require you to use the oil cooler. If you don't plan to use the OEM oil cooler, then you need the 92-94 SS and TW water pump. I believe those are the only turbo style water pump that doesn't have the extra water "nipple."Legacy777 wrote:The turbo pump is different than the non-turbo pump. Re: rebuiling my engine
As an additional note to Mike's comment about the 92-94 water pump. Some people have put a rubber plug on the nipple going to the oil cooler. This would allow you to use a WRX/STi water pump on a 92-94 turbo Legacy.

i got brand new fender and were installing the front inter-cooler and JDM for light

You can rebuild the PS pump if you're feeling adventurous.

Re: rebuiling my engine
i have a question guy i have front mount inter cooler a quite big one if you ask me.
im still with the vf11 turbo and i wonder if i can use the front mount without issue.
im looking for the remaining part for a upgrade
here want i have right now
440 jdm injector not install yet
front intercooler getting install this week
i also have a jesc.
now i doing a gasket job on the engine, timming belt.
new water pump is on his way too.
i got a Innovate LC-1 Wideband O2 + XD-16 Gauge Kit
i know i need some sort of EM and get the ring to put the injector in
i got walbro pump still in the box.
Magnacor wire in box too.
this was a car i use daily but i had bad luck and problem in the pass :engine burn in my first t-leg 94 then
get hit by someone with the other one.
i am short on money but i had all this part in the closet, i want to use them and eventualy complete the mod.
any help in any ways would be so awesome
so my question his what can be install and what need to wait for the other part to operate correctly.
like do you think drop injector on my car is bad if i don't have EM yet?
