Ok everyone, so I have quite a question here. Basically, I have a rebuilt Phase I EJ25 with about 2k miles on it out of a 96 outback that I am curious about swapping into a 2000 Outback with a Phase II EJ25...
Is this possible?
If so, is it a straight forward swap? wiring harness? etc?
I have the motor just sitting around and I found a killer deal on a 2000 Outback limited that needs a new engine.
What do you guys think?
Thank you in advance!

No offense, but unless Subar-styles has done this himself, go check out the Ultimatesubaru.org site on this swap.
Phase1>>Phase 2 does have some gotchas - some may be 'show stoppers'. Plus I believe the '00 is MAP-based - not MAF....MAF is same as Legacy's from '90-99>>Wikipedia Link.
You 'could' put the heads from the phase 2 on your phase 1 block, keep the phase2 IM and wiring and you'd be good to go.
Do some more research.....

i would expect just fabbing the stock sohc manifolds's sensors/wirring to the ej25d manifold would be the easyiest way. as per not having to swap heads.
