We had a mechanic convert to R134 and charge the compressor. It works, but he detects leaking out the back. We bought the wagon and the AC didn't work.
This means we need a new compressor right?
Why is the 1993 compressor so DANG expensive ($500) vs 1994 ($185) or 1992 ($265)
My 1993 half dead sedan turns out has a 1992 model A/C so much for swapping.
The 1993 is 73011AA110 and has a Calsonic label - does that mean it is already a replacement at some time?

Can you elaborate what you mean by "he detects leaking out of the back"
The part # you listed is not for a Calsonic compressor, but rather a DKKC compressor. If you don't mind listing your VIN, or want to PM your VIN I can look up the parts that are applicable to your car.
Also, just to let you know, you can't buy just the compressor any more, it's a new part # that comes with new hoses to hook up to the condenser & evaporator.

Now you know why I sit confused (car with hubby). I read the part number and read the Calsonic name on it, yet the parts catalog shows it on the dkkc page. So I'll double check it tonight

The reciver/dryer is circled in red, condenser in green, and compresser in blue. Hope this helps.

receiver/dryer is what the parts manual calls liquid tank ay. No wonder why new dealers never got the part right, no one calls things the same!
I got better description - a/c charged and stopped working - because of the leak at the compressor.
And it is a DKKC on wagon So you can't change a DKKC with the other Calsonic which is in my sedan?

The part # 73011AA090 is definitely a Calsonic compressor, while 73011AA110 is a DKKC compressor.
As I think you've figured out, no you can't swap between the two compressors. You can try and find a used compressor to use. From my own personal experience....it'll be hit or miss whether the compressor lasts. I went through my original compressor and one or maybe two additional used compressors before I broke down and bought a new one. I did some research and found out that these compressors (the Calsonic's) are notorious for a common failure on the head end of the compressor, and can not be rebuilt.
As long as the o-rings are in ok shape, you should be able to reuse them. You can try matching them with some in a generic box of AC o-rings.
The receiver/drier you can buy at a parts store. There's not much to them.

The DKKC has a bolt in the back that is leaking! I see on no part sheet if the bolt is removable and has a seal.
The calsonic 200 # compressor is the same as DKKC except the wire is on the side instead of on top. Oh the things we'll check out taking the DKKC out and playing with the bolt first. Just didn't know if anyone has knowledge of that bolt.

There's probably some form of seal/o-ring. If that's all that is leaking, I'd just try and replace the seal.

Napa had an o-ring that fit, so we'll see. It seems like it is a relief valve, that I assume is not replaceable.
The 200# compressor was the same on top but the brackets below are farther apart. Hoping the o-ring did the job.
