Cool enough story for me
I have had a 67 beetle, 71 westfalia bus, 89 GLI, and am daily driving a 63 beetle.
Mostly into the aircooled stuff but the jetta was really a pretty good car with the exception of those pesky v-belts. I like all european stuff and appreciate anything well done. I am not really a fan of FWD but the MPG thing is nice. Living in the Pacific Northwest and being an "outdoorsy" person the AWD of friends cars and my brothers legacy really has me thinking seriously about a Subaru.
I still have my old 67 but it is wrecked and on the side of the house under covers and such. It was a great car and sorely missed. It has sort of lent some parts over the years. The bent frame head is what is stopping me on it.
Here is a picture of it in one of the various stages of its life: (If moderators have a problem with non-subaru stuff on here I will gladly remove the images)

That car went everywhere. Stock 1500 and problem free. In that picture it has drop spindles. Front horn grills were shaved, euro blade bumpers, 4 lug conversion brakes, aftermarket exhaust, scat seats up front, pre-66 chrome trim, various other stuff.
The old bus was a more tired but pretty useful with all of the space and camping was fantastic. It had all over the 71 specific bits and was a tank. The engine leaked oil like a seiv and was probably putting out half the original hp...which made it even slower.
The old GLI:

This thing ran like a raped ape. That 16v was fun. A lot of modifications to this one, but this is a Subaru forum and do not think anyone really cares.
The 63 I am running around now. Original paint and interiour with 1776 power. Again, a whole host of things on this one.
Thanks for the words of wisdom in things euro to subaru. Generally speaking I am impressed with the engineering of the cars. I have been dabbling in Subarus for a bit now. About a year ago I did a waterpump, timing belt, and all of the related stuff for that on an..I think it was 01 STI. Other random junk around I suppose with all these people I know owning Subarus I typically end up digging into one every now and then
