Installed side marker turn signals on my 90 from the 92-94's.
Pain...what a pain.

Re: What did you do to your Subie today?
Timing belt and water pump install...and replace the rattiest radiator with a fresh one! 92 L FWD. than replaced upper rad hose. Now, need to replace steering knuckle and ball joint. It never really ends, does it. Funny short story, I started the car after timing belt install for the first time before complete reassembly. Flipped the key, car starts, 2 seconds later hear BAM! I'm thinking OHNOES! LOL, I had pushed a long bolt into the tranny line going to the cooler and the pressure blew it out into the firewall. A mess...yes, but not a valve crashing into a piston!
Re: What did you do to your Subie today?
Did you replace the lower too? The upper usually stays good forever, but the lower sees all the crap.
Haha, well at least it's all good now. Sucks when stuff like that happens.
I was doing timing with my friend on my Legacy one time about 4 am and
we were both half asleep and we had timed it wrong and got it all put back
together only to find out one of the pulleys was 90 degrees off and it wouldnt
crank at all haha

Cleaned bird crap off the roof. What a pain to do in the sun, especially cause the roof is black.

Man...funny bird crap story.
So a few months ago I used to park in the spot right in front of the building every day at a work. Well there was this guy that used to work here and he was disgusting in more ways than I could explain. Well anyway, they hired him back and he started taking my front spot right around the time that these birds showed up. Well I had my spot one day and got my car covered in bird crap. I had washed it off two nights later and found that it removed my clear coat. They must have been eating some pretty potent stuff. Either way I let him have that front spot for a week in his new Altima and started parking about 20' away from the building. He thought he won til he tried to wash the, no lie, at least 50 spots of bird crap off his car at the end of the week.

Finally got my big invenstment for the manual swap. Bought a rebuild 5speed out of an 06 2.5rs. Should have the flywheel and clutch within the month (found a lightweight flywheel for $250)

Re: What did you do to your Subie today?
Does the 5spd have the same gear ratio as your rear diff? I think that makes a difference.
And man..that'd be awesome. I would have put sod all on his roof

Re: What did you do to your Subie today?
According to the guy I purchased the trans from, who seemed remarkably knowledgable, the trans has a 3.90 final drive which is the same as what I have. also, I have a 3.90 VLSD prepped and ready to go in.

Replaced the FWD fuse box with a switch and mounted it where my non-working Cigarette lighter is... I don't really have a good reason for doing this. I was just bored and happened to have some extra wire and a switch lying around, so I grabbed and went to work:) lol.

Re: What did you do to your Subie today?
I did almost exactly that lol. But I put the switch on top of the triple 12v outlet that replaced my ash tray. FWD is fun when you're tires are getting old and you wanna make some smokeTBFK wrote:Replaced the FWD fuse box with a switch and mounted it where my non-working Cigarette lighter is... Gonna need some pics Falken
I'm not sure how that fuse even works. Does it disengage the drive shaft from the rear diff?

Re: What did you do to your Subie today?
It disables the Duty C solenoid I think which sends 100% of the power to the front wheels via the center diff. How I don't know. lol Clutch pack?

Re: What did you do to your Subie today?
Weird. It seems like it would be bad for it to keep it in FWD mode for long periods of time.
Re: What did you do to your Subie today?
Lol. FWD is a lot of fun. I don't manually shift my AT though, mostly just leave in in "D" or "3" when drivin around. I use AWD when drivin on dirt or gravel because when you have FWD engaged, it's got to much torque and spins to easily when your not on paved roads.Danny-G wrote:I did almost exactly that lol. I've been driving it in FWD for about 2 months solid now, and I haven't noticed anything funky happening. I thought it might help me get better gas mileage, but it doesn't help much. maybe like .7 MPG difference...SWRT wrote:Weird. Re: What did you do to your Subie today?
Running in FWD mode all the time leaves the Duty C solenoid energized at 100% duty cycle all the time. It is not meant to run that way for extended periods of time. Doing so can possibly reduce its life.
