I agree with everyone else. That thing prime! I'm all about modifying cars to suite your tastes, but that needs to be preserved! You could maybe even sell it to SOA? 8)

I'm of the opinion that it's your car and you can do as you please with it. But from a purely logistical perspective, there's no way in hell I'd even consider putting 500hp in a chassis that outdated.

Were it mine, I'd do the AWD swap and that's it.

the gl-10 is a sweet ride, espesally one in that good of condition. that would be a sweet mountain car. if it were awd. or would be cool dumped witha 2.5. awd. so i vote AWD . either way. subarus arent fwd cars. lol maybe rear.

I tried to talk to those people at Subaru America and they just siad fill out this thing on line I did that and nothing !!! My good friends went to sema and Subaru America had this xt6 on display ! My buddy told me the dash was cracking the inside was all faded the out side was just beat up !!!... Are they kidding me over there I have a mint mint car !

But if I drive the car in the summer awd is pointless waste more gas and lose power because it's heavy. I should have siad it's not that slow it is a quick car believe it or not.. 500whp would be perfect the body is strong.. These cars under look like front all Subarus do, and the back is the same as the hatch sti with the little shocks..

I never had the need for AWD with my GL's. All season tires, street parking, plowed in up to the doors, just back and forth a couple times to clear a little run and punch through. If I ever got stuck, unsticking was easy. There was only one time when I slid into an ice bank that AWD would have probably gotten me out when fwd didn't, but if you want power, that transmission won't handle it and it would probably steer itself all over the place. I think 500 HP is way too much for that car without a cage. It's basically the same as my GLs were underneath and they were built tough, but they were also very flexible. That is a lot of twist on the chassis.

The SEMA car was an XT Turbo, and I think they displayed that because the XT was such a strange car.

Not only is there a lot of twist in the chassis, but unless you spend a ton of time and money on fabrication (probably more than just buying a newer & better car) you're stuck with the same suspension and brakes that are on it now... and I wouldn't be anywhere near that car (inside or out) if it had 500hp on those sissy stock EA-series brakes.

I would say 500hp is probably scary to all four wheels. If I doubled the hp in my legacy it would be scary fast. And that little gl is lighter than my heavy ss.

Haha! Tu Che. I would do it in a heartbeat but I'd probably get into trouble. Being scared is part of the fun I guess. :)
