4EAT won't engage after service, need help!

Post by oleman77 »

Ok guys I decided to service my 4eat. Replaced filter and gasket. After filling back up with fluid I overfilled it and now it won't engage at all! I went to drain a little bit of fluid from drain plug and no fluid at all came out? What the heck did I do? I tried to warm up car and that didn't work. I also left it in reverse and drive for several seconds and still nothing. Need help fella's!!

There are two dipsticks. Which one did you fill? One is trans fluid and one is gear oil.

Holy shit! Obviously not the right one. I pulled the dipstick out from the one I filled and it says "diff" on it. Crap... Where is the tranny dipstick?

Well crap, I found it...I'll add it to the right place this time...should I just drain the front diff and refill with gear oil?

Do you know how much oil the front diff takes?

Well it helps when you add fluid to the right place after a service. All is good....
