Post by turbo970 »

does any one have a pic of the VSS 1 or at least a part number. the one that the dealer order was for a 95 yet their catalog said it would fit my 92 :(

From what I can tell in the parts book, the older transmissions had a separate sensor, while the newer transmissions had it integrated into the trans harness. The split happen in the 92 model year. If your car has a manufacture date of Feb 1992 I believe it should have the separate sensor.

The part # for the separate sensor is 31937AA040. Additionally, there is an o-ring on the sensor that I'd recommend replacing, it's part # is 806912140.

Well I would think you could use the new harness you bought, but you'd have to swap everything vs. just the VSS.

Try seeing if www.subarugenuineparts.com has the VSS available.

So why won't the harness you bought work?

Well that sucks. I guess my suggestion would be to search for a used trans prior to 92 that has the same VSS setup.
