LOL yep I was the only one on here with a turbo timer for the longest time AFAIK.... it was one of the only parts I got to salvage from my wrecked turbo Saturn ('99 SC2), along with the boost gauge and EGT gauge currently in my Legacy. I stubbornly installed my Apexi Turbo Timer into the Subaru, even though it uses convection currents to cool the turbo via its water jackets after the car has shut off so there is no chance of the oil coagulating anyway. Only recently removed it as it was part of a larger wiring issue, and it's sitting on my garage shelf now.

You don't need a turbo timer, and even if you have one it's not worth installing. The only nice part about having a turbo timer was being able to leave the car running for a couple mins without the keys in it while I ran a quick errand or something, so I didn't have to use the starter again. I'll probably sell mine on eBay... zero plans to use it in any of my Subarus and that's all I have anymore anyway

Ha, I wasn't the only one, neat!

I also thought I was the only one that had a remote starter on my manual Legacy... until I learned that VRG3 installed one too, although he was a bit more intelligent about it. He wired in the neutral switch as a disabler so it couldn't remote start in gear. I had just gotten used to parking it out of gear so I could start it, but that was a Florida thing (no hills).

One time (musta been a good 9-10 years ago at this point), I didn't check or remember that I left it in 1st gear, remote-started it, and then was greeted by my Legacy stumbling its way through the parking brake and pushing into the apartment's outside hallway against the stairs before I could get in and pull it out of gear. Wasn't funny to me at the time, but my neighbors were laughing their asses off. Looking back, that was pretty damned hilarious.

No damage, just ended up rubbing a tire-shaped mark into the wall where the passenger front wheel was slipping as my Legacy attempted to climb the stairs in front of it for a couple seconds. It's quite ambitious!

^lol. I did that once back in the day when I had my 94 neon. I had the auto start, stopped at a gas station to pick up some smokes, came out and saw a hot girl, hit the auto start and forgot I left it in gear. It ended up jumping the curb and busting my R33 front bumper lip lol. I was embarrassed.
-I too have an auto start setup but its still in its package. Doubt it will ever go on the Tleg.

LOL I just love that the turbo Legacy doesn't give two shits if the parking brake is on and there's a curb / parking stopper in the way of it, if it starts up in 1st gear it will power right through and over all that shit and sit there spinning tires slowly as it pushes into the bottom of a staircase. I'd have thought it would have stalled someway through that but NOPE

TD05h 16G installed.. twice sorta. Was excited and forgot my upipe gasket the first go around, noticed it wasn't building boost proper- tossed some seafoam into the intake at idle and sure enough, it poured out pre turbo and wasn't building any pressure.

Pulled it back out, busted an up pipe stud but wound up replacing half the exhaust manifold cause I had an extra. Was.. interesting pulling the manifold from below. I broke another bolt on that bracket that holds the uppipe to the block so I cut that bitch in half and yanked it out. The motor has to be lifted a bit to really get that stupid up-pipe out.

but now I have boost and thats good.

Found the source of moisture in my tw, the front sunroof drain tubes don't go out of the cabin, so most of the front foot well carpet is soaked underneath. And, to add to my frustration, the alternator decided to give up today. It growls, smells of burning crap, and smokes from the front. I'mcconsidering re-shelling my with my parts car shell.

Well.. TD05 makes power at stock levels but I decided to try the revtronix ecu and the td05 at around 15/16PSI and uhhhh

its a lot faster and awesome

I'd be curious to see what it makes on a dyno as I doubt anyone else will really run the revtronix anymore.. Anywhere cheap?

I fixed the sunroof drain tube problem, I found them and got them back in behind the fender liner, that means I'm now back on track to have it ready for the big n.w meet. I also put two different rear speakers in and those will be running off an amp.

I know it probably wasn't funny at the time, but it was amusing reading now.


As for me, I got the Legacy inspected and installed the painted turbo heat shield. After a little bit of a drive around Houston I checked the temp with my IR temperature gun and the skin temp of the heat shield was about 275 deg F, while the turbo's turbine section was around 500 deg F.

Put the entire interior back in my wagon, from the headliner to the carpet. I also ran damn near all the wires for the amps I'll be putting in.

Finally got around to replacing a bad wheel hub that's pissed me off for 10k miles. Somehow I manage to break an axle on reassembly. Well by break I mean the circlip that holds the ball bearings in is horribly mangled, and will never be the necessary shape again.

Call a few friends up, buddy who was coming over anyways has one! Sweet! So he comes over right around dusk and I'm back in business right? Well after playing fun little games with the parking brake shoes, I win for now and the brake rotor goes back on. Go to put the caliper on and WTF, the bolt spacing isn't right? I vaguely remember this happening on the other side I installed the 2 pot brackets. Kart boy brackets + phase I hubs = not a fun time. I'll drill out the holes a bit in the morning, way too late to this evening.
