engine noob.
Alright guys I'm a noob to engine work. My legacy is my first car. So not very knowledgeable in the engine area lol. So I was wondering what are the best mods to do to my N/A engine, besides turboing it. I'm wondering. I need lots of help in that area. Still a noob. So your help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: engine noob.
Can't really make big power with a NA engine unfortunately. I mean you can do cam work, exhaust, intake. You could lighten the car a bit so the engine doesn't have to work as hard. I was going to keep my car NA but then decided I wanted to turbo it. You can do it for a decent price as long as you do it right and look in the right places to get parts. IF you really want to keep it NA you can use a frakenmotor which uses parts from different engines and basically piecing it together. It'll be a fun car but eventually you'll max the power out and want more

Re: engine noob.
How much money do you want to spend? As mentioned, there's really not a lot you can do to the non-turbo setup to make big power gains without tearing into the motor.

So turboing it is the best thing to do? I do want a turbo. But I don't want it to leave me with no money.

Re: engine noob.
It will definitely be a good chunk of change to turbo your car.

Re: engine noob.
It's only going to cost me like 800. It depends on how far you want to go.

I asked the same question to a lot of different people a while ago, i'd say do a tune up with good quality parts, don't know where you're located but you could bolt on some headers and de-cat and all that good exhaust work... also a noob and got a 93 wagon (btw im on your instagram) but I'm doing some homework on compatibility and I'm probably gonna start off with slightly larger injectors and headers plus an intake. pretty much small things i can swap from newer legacies and imprezas without making the ecu act funky.

Well came across this today. http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/3895070060.html just wondering if is uses the same wiring harness as my N/A or is it a whole different setup? Do I also need a turbo ecu? If I get the turbo engine I'm planning on a 5 speed swap also

Re: engine noob.
You need to modify your N/A harness for some of the turbo sensors and yes you will need a turbo ECU. If you can get the motor for cheap buy it, it's worth it.
